Why more health systems are rethinking inventory management

This year, healthcare supply chain leaders are keeping a close eye on issues like geopolitical concerns, inflation, technology developments and cybersecurity threats.

Although pandemic stressors are mostly in the rearview mirror, many hospitals and health systems now have a new perspective about inventory and how much stock they want to hold. They recognize the importance of managing their supply chains effectively — in both the short and long term.

This whitepaper outlines how organizations are using technology, data and analytics to achieve the following benefits:

  • Decrease inventory values by 40%+
  • Reduce waste by 63% and expiration by 54% over the industry average
  • Achieve cost savings of $300K+ per department
  • Increase nurse and physician satisfaction

Executive survey insights on leveraging tech to streamline hiring

As the workplace evolves, healthcare leaders are adapting their workforce strategies.

To understand the opportunities and obstacles associated with leveraging technology for talent acquisition in healthcare, Indeed — in partnership with Becker's Healthcare — conducted a survey of 138 healthcare leaders. Survey respondents came from health systems, nonprofit organizations and academic medical centers, as well as community, critical access, rural and independent hospitals.

Their responses are summarized in this short report.

Key highlights:

  • To recruit employees, hospitals and health systems are using several talent acquisition tools, ranging from online recruiting solutions to more traditional, in-person programs.
  • The most widely adopted approach is to post open positions on sites like Indeed, LinkedIn, Glassdoor and others — 68% said they use these tools.
  • Over half of survey respondents (59%) said they participate in job fairs and hiring events.
  • 60% said AI plays either a prominent or quite a prominent role in hiring.
