Description

Following a positive multi-cancer early detection (MCED) test, imaging plays a critical role in localizing potential malignancies and guiding diagnostic resolution. This session will examine diagnostic resolution pathways, explore considerations around incidental findings, and review evidence to support safe and efficient diagnostic resolution in the context of MCED test result. By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the diagnostic pathways available following a positive MCED test, including the role of imaging in cancer localization and confirmation of malignancy.
  • Evaluate the safety, efficiency, and clinical utility of imaging-based approaches in confirming positive MCED test results.
  • Identify best practices for managing incidental findings uncovered during imaging workups, with a focus on minimizing harm, patient anxiety, and unnecessary interventions.
  • Apply practical considerations for integrating MCED testing into multidisciplinary care workflows, including coordination between primary care, radiology, oncology, and specialty care for diagnostic resolution.
