Matthew Shields currently serves as the Director of Hospital Operations for Perioperative Services at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas. Matthew joined the MH-TMC team in January 2022. Matthew has been with Memorial Hermann Health System since 2014, serving most recently as Regional Director of Operations and Service Line Leader for Memorial Hermann Medical Group.

Matthew brings a wealth of training and experience in operations to this role and has led various strategic initiatives that have improved operational and financial outcomes and increased productivity and staff engagement.

Matthew holds a Bachelor’s in Accounting from the Louisiana State University and a Master’s in Business Administration from Loyola University New Orleans. He has developed a proven history in leadership through developing new process flows and improving operational processes, while focusing on the patient across multiple care continuums.

In his spare time, Matthew enjoys spending time with his wife and three boys. He can often be found either on the soccer field or riding through the streets of Houston while training for triathlons.
