Dr. Nathaen Weitzel is a full Professor of Anesthesiology with specialty training in Cardiac Anesthesia. He has extensive experience in a wide range of clinical care including heart and lung transplant, Ventricular Assist Devices, valve surgery, and robotic thoracic and cardiac surgery. Dr. Weitzel has a broad range of interests including clinical research, hospital and operating room management, organizational leadership, education, and scientific writing. He currently serves as the Associate Chief Medical Officer of Perioperative Services for University of Colorado Health and as Vice Chair of Clinical Operations and Quality for the Department of Anesthesiology. Dr. Weitzel was the Editor in Chief of Seminars in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia for 11 years and held various educational roles including Associate Residency Director for the UCH Anesthesiology Residency program.
