Description
What if you had a lengthy stay or care journey in the hospital or system you work in? In 2023, Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, Josh Cutler found himself inpatient at Providence Swedish. He had been a rising star in the health system, not long before, scaling national programs during COVID before moving on to a Director role at Premera Blue Cross. He now found himself back at Swedish in Seattle, locked in a psych unit, getting ECT 3x a week with little memory of how he got there. A motorcycle accident and subsequent TBI had sent him into a lengthy manic depressive episode that caused this breakdown, but a lifetime of trying to outrun his demons through achievement had finally caught up with him. This is the story of a regular guy who was forced to slow down and figure out what’s important. He’s a better dad, human, and caregiver for it, and looks forward to sharing some insights from his recovery journey, drawing on his training in behavioral psychology and his own lived experience.
